Leadership, Boundaries, and Why This Community Matters

At Triangle Nannies, we are deeply committed to creating a community where families and caregivers feel respected, supported, and safe. Recently, we’ve made a few updates to how we run our private community space—and we want to take a moment to explain why.
We recently removed several hundred members from our online groups for blocking our admin and moderator team. While we respect people’s privacy, our ability to see activity within the group is crucial to maintaining safety, transparency, and trust. This space is not a free-for-all—it’s something we steward with intention and care.
In another nanny group (that we are not a part of), our agency was called out for sharing a job that someone felt was unethical in nature. The criticism extended to accusations that we don’t advocate for nannies or screen the families we work with. It’s important to acknowledge these concerns—because we take them seriously.
We’ve had hard conversations with families behind the scenes. We’ve walked away from clients whose values didn’t align with ours. We are constantly refining our processes, listening to feedback, and learning as we go. That said, we are not the agency for everyone—and we’ve never claimed to be. We serve a specific kind of client and caregiver, and we work hard to create strong matches within those standards.
We also recently made the decision to prohibit public reviews of nannies—positive or negative—in our group. While we understand the instinct to celebrate or warn others, we’ve seen firsthand how quickly these posts can spiral. A recent situation, where a glowing review was challenged by a past employer, became emotionally charged and unproductive for everyone involved. These conversations are best had in private, thoughtful settings—not in public forums. We know that you may not align with us on this- and we get it. There are other online communities in this area which may handle things like this differently, and you are welcome to join those.
Our agency is also continuing to grow! Our Back-Up Care network is expanding, and we’re actively seeking experienced, well-referenced caregivers who are open to occasional call shifts. Pay starts at $25+/hr. If that’s you, we’d love to meet you. Email amy@mygirlfri.com if you'd like to discuss this!
Lastly, a gentle but firm reminder: just because someone says they were placed by Triangle Nannies doesn’t mean it’s true. We've had families reach out confused and disappointed after working with nannies who falsely claimed to be part of our network. Please—do your homework. Check references. Run background checks. Ask questions.
This is the internet. This is the wild web. Let’s protect each other—and our children—with care and due diligence.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We’re here for the long haul—and we’re learning, growing, and adjusting along the way.
With care and commitment,
The Triangle Nannies Team
